It was a lightning delay of thirty minutes, but the rain did not let up afterwards, making for very wet conditions at Arlington as their unlimited weight Seminoles hosted the Palatka Pirates. Both teams would trade punches back and forth on the field with their defenses. The Seminoles used a power running game to move the ball downfield but the Pirates defense forced an early fumble. Palatka would attempt to put together a drive together of their own but the Noles forced a fumble as well.
It wasn’t until the latter part of the first quarter that a team got into position to score. Palatka scored on a short pass to the corner of the endzone to go up 6-0. In the second, Arlington would get on the board with a touchdown of their own, scoring on a pass in the corner of their endzone.
Tied at six into the fourth quarter Coach Whitfield and Coach Allen of Palatka knew they had to devise a scheme to score on offense and hold on defense. They did just that, scoring on a running play and then forcing a fumble on defense to virtually end the game.
Palatka’s Players of the Game were KeShawn Hughes #7 and Cameron Miles #19.
