Only one team in the Junior Pee Wee Pop Warner division has clinched their division. No it’s not Sweetwater Ravens, its not Grandpark Trojans, its not Creeks Outlaws, its the Oceanway Blue Bucs. The Bucs defeated the Sweetwater Seahawks 26-0, to sweep their division and solidify their spot in the post season.
Oceanway stumbled early in this contest uncharacteristically fumbling on three of their first four possessions of the game. Sweetwater attempted to use their size to their advantage early by establishing their ground game. They were able to move the ball and get a first down, but was eventually stopped on fourth down on their first drive. Oceanway would respond driving the ball deep into Sweetwater territory. WR Maxwell Robinson took the sweep around the right corner 20 yards for the game’s first touchdown. The Bucs would lead 6-0. Sweetwater’s next drive got them deep into Buccaneer territory. The Seahawks Quarterback connected with his big tight end who raced down the middle of the field for 40 yards before being tackled from behind by Buccaneers Safety Sedrick Price Jr at the five yard line. The tackle would be the biggest of the game, as the Bucs defense stiffened in the redzone forcing a fumble that was recovered by Defensive Tackle Elijah (Baby D) to end the half.
In the second half the Buccaneers would settle down and settle in, taking their first drive 60 yards on seven plays which culminated with a five yard touchdown run by RB Christian Ellis. After a defensive stop, the Bucs would get the ball back and RB Reshawn Lattimer would take the hand off and run 60 yards for the touchdown. However Lattimer wasn’t done on the afternoon. After an interception by Safety Sedrick Price Jr on the Bucs own three yard line, Lattimer would take the hand off and run 97 yards for his second touchdown of the day, capping the victory 26-0.
For the Bucs it was they’re fourth shutout this year and they’re defense has yet to yield a touchdown.

On offense, the Bucs have averaged 26 ppg and six different players have scored. It’s a testament to Head Coach Trenton Postell and his approach to calling plays.

Oceanway doesn’t have time to celebrate the division as they have two true tests coming up on their schedule. They face the Lake Shore Red Raiders and Creeks Gold Outlaws in consecutive weeks to end the regular season . It’s sure to be their toughest tests of the season and Coach Postell understands the importance of these games. ” Alot of times you play an opponent that’s not a division opponent and you may not take it as serious, but we’re definitely taking it serious because we play two good teams; It’s going to be a measuring stick for these boys to see how far they’ve come”.
