Paxon Returns to the Gateway Conference Final

Paxon High School- Kitana Stokes scored 18 points to lead the Paxon Golden Eagles over the Lee Generals 58-40 to advance to the final round of the Gateway Conference Tournament. Stokes ignited her team on offense early in the contest hitting jump shots and driving to the basket. She also excelled on defense creating steals and pressuring  Lee’s guards. Wheeler capitalized on fast break and transition points, always seeming to be in the right place at the right time. The entire Paxon team answered the bell Thursday night. They shot so well in the second quarter that they outscored Lee 19-6. Not only did they deal a proverbial knock out blow to their opponent, they provided (literally) heart pumping action for their home crowd  Thursday Night. On defense, the long sophomore Shania Edgecomb hassled Lee General shots all night. She was a force in the paint that Lee did not account for. Edgecomb was a member of the team last year but wasn’t ready to play the same role that she does now. With her manning the paint, it allows Paxon’s talented guards to roam all over the court. This strategy worked perfectly against Lee as Paxon won the game 58-40.
