Duuuval’s Game of the Week! Oakleaf upsets Clay

In our power rankings prior to this Friday the Clay Blue Devils came into the game versus Oakleaf ranked #5 in the area. Never mind the fact that they have struggled with teams like Fleming Island, Clay is the defending Class 5A State Runner Ups and deserve to be where they were. But don’t tell that to Oakleaf. After defeating Atlantic Coast in dramatic fashion the Knights were ridning high into Friday night’s contest.

The scoring began in the first when Clay’s #22 Jt Turner went 25 Yds for the Rushing TD. Oakleaf responded with #20 Keylan Brown with a 10 Yd Rushing TD knotting it up at 7. The teams would trade TDs with Clay scoring first all the way to the late third quarter. But Oakleaf’s Desmon George turned the tide, taking  a screen pass 25 yds for the go ahead TD.

Oakleaf wouldn’t surrender the lead again after that point. As their defense led by Safety Shaq Quarterman’s 18 tackles kept Clay out of the endzone for the remainder of the game. The knights would add one last TD to put the nail in the coffin as they celebrate a big upset of Clay 35-28.
