It didn’t take long for Gilbert to go up on Highlands yesterday. In fact the Panthers scored 16 points in the first quarter. The final score… 40-6 as Gilbert won its 57th game in a row dating back almost seven years. Many of Gilbert’s players played youth football for the Mentor’s of Tomorrow (MOT). So they have had a lot of years of experience playing with one another. It’s exciting to see a team build such an impressive streak. It’s even more impressive to see a team clicking on all cylinders.

Gilbert’s defensive and offensive lines are massive. They physically dominated the noticeably smaller Highlands team. They ran the ball at will and controlled the clock. Even though Highlands came into the contest 1-1 and attempting to start a winning streak of their own, Gilbert shut the door quickly. A fade pass to the corner of the end-zone made it 24-0 in the 2nd quarter.
