New York City – Ribault faces Seton Catholic in in the Dicks High School Basketball National Championships. The Lady Trojans got out to a slow start which is customary for them this season. Coach Shelia Pennick tends to wait to see what the opponent has before she starts to put together sets on offense and defense for her players. It translated into a 15-10 deficit after one period. Rennia Davis came out smoking however, as she hit two 3 pointers to start the game.
Seton Catholic capitalized on great shooting in the first. Leanne Wirth and Jenn Wirth used their height to frustrate the smaller Ribault. But Day Neshia Banks began to heat up, taking pressure off Davis. Kayla Rogers hit a big 3 pointer to end the half.
In the second half, Ribault turned up the pressure stifling Seton Catholic on offense. Nola Carter pressured Sentinal ball handlers into costly turnovers, and Praise Russell added the finishing touches on a total team effort from the Trojans!
Ribault will face Mc Donald’s All American Kaila Charles of Riverdale in Madison Square Garden on Saturday at 10am. It should be a great matchup between Rennia Davis and Charles!
