Creekside H.S- With one out and trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Creekside’s Cade Westbrook hit a grand-slam home run propelling his team over Providence 6-4. After trailing all game and in desperate need of a play, Creekside decided to make a run in the 6th. After Providence changed pitchers from Max Holmes who had given up just one run in the contest, Creekside began to turn hits into runs.
Schneider was the first of three batters to get on base with only one out. Seth Stubbs then hit a single to left, bringing home the Knight runner. The rest is history as they say, as Westbrook went deep to right field bringing in the tying and go ahead runs.
” I was looking for a fast ball. I saw him throw a curve ball on the first pitch and would come back with the fastball. I saw the fastball middle in, and I just turned on it” -Cade Westbrook. It was a point in the game that completely caught Providence by surprise. The Stallions jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the contest. They virtually controlled the entire game up until the last two innings. Alex Sanchez scored thanks to a Tyler Callahan single making it 3-1. Then Max Holmes would get the hit and run with Nate Adams, scoring the Stallion’s fourth run of the game.Holmes would pitch very well for the Stallions, but was certainly over his pitch count in the bottom of the 6th. It was now closing time for Providence, and they have some of the best in the city. Uncharacteristically, this opened the door for Creekside to take advantage of the pitching switch.
It was a big win for Creekside as they proved true what many around our area proclaim, that they are the best public school program around and one of the best teams in the state. Providence is also one of the best in the state. They are arguably one of the best private school programs in the area. 
This matchup provided a look into the worlds of two similar programs from different settings, and Creekside would get the best of the match this time. Said Coach Luke Marabell of his Knights game, ” The biggest thing is getting guys on base. Obviously to do any damage you have to have guys in scoring position. We got a couple balls that went up the middle to go off their ankles, and the ball bounced our way”. Providence has been blindsided by a gauntlet of teams coming down the stretch of their schedule. They’ve played the defending champion Trinity Christian Conquerors, and Creekside within four days of each other, so Coach Mackiewitz knew it would be a tough stretch for his ball club. Yet he continues to stay positive and optimistic that playing good teams down the stretch of the regular season, only prepares his team for the post season.
