Atlantic Coast H.S- Atlantic Coast defeated Terry Parker 11-3 in the Baseball Gateway Conference Championship Friday evening. It is their second consecutive Gateway Conference Championship . This one held a special place in the player’s hearts. The Stingray’s Andrew Parcell said after the contest, ” this one feels better because we got to play Terry Parker at home”. Terry Parker is one of the best baseball programs in the city, and gains a lot of respect from other ball clubs. Coast was no exception, and the team was up for the contest. Parcell is the match that lights a fire under his team. It was something motivational about playing the Braves at their ball park, and in front of their home crowd. An impressive crowd cheered on their Stingrays from the start which translated into a 6-0 early lead for the Stingrays.
Parker would rally, thanks to Johny Moon bringing in two runs for them as they cut the Stingray lead to 6-3 in the 4th. The Braves could feel the wind coming back into their sails and were primed to make an incredible comeback. But they quickly discovered the wind was simply a breeze as Atlantic Coast and Coach Joel Davis never flinched. Davis made moves with Craig Case #16 and Jason Swan #9 to keep balls fast and hard for Parker to connect with. D.J Roberts # 19 had 7 strike outs in the came, and threw the heat early. #6 Noah Searcy put the icing on the cake when he brought in a run and scored late. This combination is the reason Coach Davis and his team got the win, and second straight conference title.
