Atlantic Coast- “I want it in the outfield”. This is what #4 Rachel Turgeon said her coach told her during a timeout before she stepped to the plate. Tied 2-2 with the bases loaded, Turgeon made her coach proud by hitting a base hit to the out field. The single brought in #1 Carly Harris for the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th. Orange Park’s Head Coach Lee Taylor congratulated the Stingrays on a great victory and wished them well in their district contests.  He certainly had nothing to be disappointed with as his girls played hard all the way to the end.

” I told them to keep fighting and that it would come down to the end”, said Head Coach James Greek of Atlantic Coast. He would be correct in both of his predictions on the night.  Coach Greek knows Carly and Rachel vey well. Greek coached for Jacksonville Beach in softball years ago when the young ladies began playing softball at Atlantic Beach. How fitting that these two long time teammates would combine to propel their team to a big victory, and their former rival coach would be the benefactor.
