Twin Lakes academy and James Weldon Johnson may not be known traditionally for their football, but their programs are certainly making a name for themselves.Last week the two teams squared off at Twin Lakes in a non divisional contest.
Twin Lakes jumped out to a 14-6 lead, which went in to the half. James Weldon scored 14 unanswered points in the second half. With less than 5 seconds in the game, James Weldon scored from 2 yards on a run off the right tackle, to win the game 20-14.
This was a hard fought game between two talented programs. JWJ improved to 2-0 after defeating Landmark in week 1 as well. This week they face Jeb Stuart who is currently 1-1 on the season.
Even though Twin Lakes is 0-2 they’ve been competitive in both games including week one by holding Gilbert to its lowest offensive point total so far this year ( 26 points).
A few bounces in a different direction and Twinn Lakes could very well be a .500 ball club. This week they will take on Landon middle (1-1) in hopes of getting a notch in the W column.
