The Region 1-5A quarterfinals were decided as Baker County outlasted Yulee 17-12. Baker will host Suwannee in the semifinals on Tuesday. Baker’ County’s Madison Kennedy and Dee Washington’s late score put it out of reach late in the high scoring affair. It was an amazing back and forth game with lots of points that ironically began on a single by Kennedy who put her team up 1-0. It started a game that would include lots of hits and plays her and her team. The biggest play of the night would be Payton Parker’s grand slam in the bottom of the 3rd to put her team up 6-0.
Yulee would respond in the fourth as Jordan Bell hit a three run homer to cut the lead to 6-3 Baker County. Lindsay LaFavor would attempt to duplicate her teammate’s incredible feat by hitting a three run home run to tie the game 6-6 in the fourth. When Kennedy hit a RBI double to put her team up 9-6 late, Yulee’s McKenzee Flowers would bring in a run to tie the game 9-9 after ERAs by Baker. They would trade shots going to 12-12 in the bottom of the 6th, but Baker’s Tori Richardson would hit the deciding RBI to put her team up for god 13-12.
