Fleming Island vs. Lee
Fleming Island came out of the gates hot thanks to #7 Kaitlyn Paul, who intercepted a Lee pass on the first possession of the game and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown. #1 Hanna McGrory showed why she is one of the finest athletes in our area as she eluded tacklers with her speed, and dissected the General’s defense with her arm. Normally she is shooting with accuracy on the basketball court for Fleming Island, but tonight she passed with pin point accuracy to her tall receiving targets. Players like #14 Valesha Watson and #3 Summer Baer made plays all over the field. Fleming island executed Coach Roger Dailey’s offense flawlessly and was very opportunistic on defense as well. Their defense was led by Paul who played the linebacker position perfectly. She was literally all over the field on the night. They forced lots of turnovers and scored lots of touchdowns, a formula just perfect for a 40-0 shutout over Lee. With the win, the Eagles add to their undefeated record (9-0) and solidify their dominant play in the district.
