DuvalSports.com will recap all the spring football games in Northeast Florida this summer! Check out this game recap below!
Head Coach Jim Stomps is excited about year number two for the eagles. He’s changed the culture of the team and the players have bought into his system. The offense will be lead by QB Zach Baldwin who has proven to his coach and teammates that he will lay it on the line for them. Baldwin played the majority of last season injured garnering the respect of his team. He’s a natural born leader and can be an extension of the coaching staff on the field in games. He can make all the throws and was observed putting the ball in great positions in spring practice.

Baldwin’s primary target is his big Tight End Trey Higginbotham. Higginbotham is a very big target that is very athletic. This spring Higginbotham and Baldwin have worked on their timing and chemistry which bodes well for the entire offense. Trey has a large catch radius and if the ball is near him he can find a way to make the catch. Great hands and height, Higginbotham is the ultimate redzone target.

On defense look out for Louie Nammour their big Defensive lineman. He plays with intensity and aggressiveness every play. He was the defensive player of the year for them, and achieved all conference designation. During spring he was observed pancaking several defenders at offensive guard in practice. On defense, when he hits you you will know it in the morning. He brings his hard hat to the game and is ready to work hard.

Christ Church and Coach Stomps are making waves when it comes to advances in player safety and they showcased this during spring practice. The team was outfitted with guardian protective helmet covers which are billed on reducing the potential of concussions in practice. One of several things that Coach Stomps has implemented to create an atmosphere of winning on and off the field.

In their spring Jamboree they would split between Harvest Community and Bishop Snyder in cometitive contest against two good teams.
Christ Church Jamboree
Bishop Snyder-6, Harvest Community -16
Harvest Community-12 vs Christ Church-7
Christ Church-20 v Bishop Snyder – 6
Bishop Snyder’s Brandon Dayao is a key piece to their team on both sides of the ball. At running back and linebacker, Dayao is a player that’s always around the ball.
Darius Abrams is a duel threat QB for Bishop Snyder that looks to make plays when the ball is in his hands. He’ll look to build off a spring campaign that saw him learn and execute the spread offense.
Harvest Community came away with the clean sweep of the Jamboree. Head Coach Lonnie Marts should be pleased with his team’s performance against quality opponents. He has great leadership from the seniors on the team.

Look for Joshua Worthy to rebound from a season ending injury last year to lead his team. He’s already worked hard to regain his strength and working on timing with his receivers. He missed the spring with an injury but is poised to comeback strong.

Harvest Community’s Johnathan Mathis will lead the running game. He is a solid runningback with good speed and power. His vision is his most noticeable attribute as he finds the hole well in the pistol offense. He was used at QB in the spring game as Worthy was sidelined with a broken hand.
All three teams had good showings in the jamboree. They are regular opponents in the fall so we’re sure the coaches didn’t want to show to much in the spring. All three teams will get 7 on 7 work and weight room time to strengthen them this summer in time for the fall push.
