Duval Sports will recap all the area spring football games in North East Florida. Check out this spring football recap below..
West Nassau defeated Paxon 21-7 on a wet spring evening in Callahan. The Warriors scored one of their three touchdowns on a Travis Holton sweep in which he followed his blockers to the endzone. Holton also had a 79 yard run off the QB option where he took the pitch all the way to the one yard line. Holton is one of two backs who can really move the chains for West Nassau. The other is Kyler Krosby. Krosby is a bruiser that moves the pile. If your in his way he’s going run you over. He’s an effective element for the type of offense that Coach Ricky Armstrong runs. Their going to ground and pound you, and that’s what they did to Paxon.
The defense held Paxon to just 7 points. They have scrappy players who get to the football. DE Colby Cowart is a good run stuffer with a knack for the ball. He has a relentless motor and gets after the quarterback well.
There wasn’t much to write home about with Paxon’s performance against West Nassau, but one player that did jump off the screen was RB Akari Boss. Boss possesses lightning quickness and great speed. Boss took a routine pass to the flat 90 yards for a touchdown. He showed that he can change a game with one touch of the ball.
Paxon’s Coach Steve Brown can be optimistic about the talent on the roster. They showed some good things in the game, but the bad outweighed the good. They’ll look to shore up those negative areas by the first regular season game. Points is what matters and West Nassau scored more points. Things are moving in the right direction for the Warriors. They are a well coached ball club with hard working players who want to win. If they keep trending upward winning is something they can get used to.
