The United States is racking up the Olympic gold medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics, and two local swimmers are bog parts of that. Ryan Murphy, a graduate of Bolles in 2013 won the 100M backstroke in thrilling fashion setting a new Olympic record with a time of 51.97. Earlier in the week Caeleb Dressel who also swam for Bolles in their Shark Club won Gold with the Men’s 4X1oom Freestyle Relay team. Dressel attended Clay High School in Green Cove Springs Florida and also swam for the Blue Devils.
Murphy is no stranger to breaking records. In 2015 he became the American Record Holder in the 200 yard Backstroke (2015). This year he swam a 43.51 in the Men’s 100 backstroke, setting a new American U.S. Open, and NCAA Record. As for Dressel, he clearly loves gold over silver or bronze. He added to his Gold Medal in the 100M Freestyle at the 2013 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships with the Olympic Gold Medal.
Great night racing for the best country there is, sweet feeling to have that gold back on US soil #USA #iloveyoumomanddad

Both swimmers have taken great pride in the sport they’ve loved for so long. Dressel gave a shout out to his mother and father after his gold medal performance. He and Murphy have added to the USA lead total for gold medals and total medals. Congratulations to Ryan Murphy and Caeleb Dressel on winning Gold!
