Twin Lakes Defense Too Much for Stilwell

Twin Lakes Middle- The 2015 Middle School Football runners up rolled out their 2016 edition on their soggy southside fields in front of their home crowd Tuesday. Equipped with their teal on teal look, Twin Lakes looked to impress the parents, faculty, and fans who were ready for week #1 of the Middle School Football season. Standing in their way was a team with a new look as well. The Stilwell Patriots have a new coach this year in Coach Scallon. He has big shoes to fill as their former Head Coach Coach Campbell moved on to coach JV Football at Ed White. A new coach and a new attitude had Stilwell confident going into their first game of the season.

It was a defensive battle in the first half has both teams showcased speed at linebacker and power at defensive tackle. Stilwell prevented Twin Lakes from getting to the edge on their sweep plays, while Twin Lakes shut down the inside run game for Stilwell. The two teams played to a 0-0 first half tie.

In the second half Twin Lakes and Coach Gamble made adjustments and took advantage of the Patriot’s undermanned D-Line. Stilwell’s big DT Daledarius Walker left the game at halftime due to a arm injury and did not return. Twin Lakes began to gain traction on the ground and found running room. Their defense also kept the pressure on thanks in part to Martin Ortiz who had 2 sacks, 12 tackles and 5 tackles for loss. The defensive play maker was instrumental in his team’s performance on defense as he and his teammates won the game 16-0.

Twin Lakes got off to a goo start to their 2016 season going 1-0 but they arnt the only ones with play makers. Look for Stilwell (0-1) to make some moves once again this year.
