Fletcher Survives the Sting of the Stingrays!

Atlantic Coast HS- The Fletcher Senators improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district play on the season with a hard fought 14-7 victory over the Atlantic Coast Stingrays Friday Night. Atlantic Coast fell to 0-4 and 0-1 in district play. Neither team seemed to want the victory at first as both teams combined to punt the ball 6 times in the first quarter. But in the second quarter Fletcher would strike first as Trevon Williams scored the game’s first touchdown to put Fletcher up 7-0.

Atlantic Coast would respond with a 65 yard touchdown run by RB Jonathan Ealy to tie the game 7-7. The score pumped up the Atlantic Coast crowd and the Stingray team. A team who was desperate for a win on the season.

Atlantic Coast missed several scoring opportunities including an interception thrown with a minute left in the half. Fletcher failed to make Atlantic Coast pay by committing costly turnovers themselves. Two of their fumbles on the night would be recovered by Darius Idelbird.

Finally Calvin Lewis V would break the tie in the fourth with a short touchdown run putting his team up 14-7 and giving them the win.

With the win, Fletcher keeps pace with Lee for the district lead as both teams are now 1-0 in district play. Fletcher and their following are marching toward a possible playoff birth as they keep on piling up the wins.
