Comets Soaring!! Kirby Smith Eclipses Highlands 28-6

Jackson High School- It was a tough year for Kirby Smith Middle last year as they fielded a young team learning how to adjust to the middle school game. The result was a losing record and a lack luster showing against teams like Highlands last year. But this year its a new story, they’re players have experience under their belt, and several players have joined the team from park football who want to represent their middle school with pride. After wins against Southside week 1 and Highlands on Wednesday, Kirby Smith has their sights set high.

Against Highlands Kirby got big performances from players across the board. Two in particular spelled double trouble for Highlands. Lucious Lattimore scored two touchdowns from 3 yds out and 55yds out showing his ability to run on the goal line, and run to the goal line. Kaleb Killian also scored two touchdowns on the night and had nearly 100 rushing yards. Both powered the offense to the tune of 28 points. The high powered offense has scored 75 points in two games, and has been overwhelmed opponents with speed and athleticism.

Keshawn Waters led a defense that harassed Highlands backs and was unblockable on the night. He and the Comet’s defense have given up a total of 0 points in two games this year. They are flying around and making plays but more importantly they are playing aggressive. They have a physical style of football that is needed to excel in the North Region of the Middle School Football Conference.

Their win sets up a big contest with another undefeated team in Ribault Middle next week. The game will be their second divisional contest and prove to be a good tough matchup. Kirby Smith has shown that they will be ready for the challenge, as they have looked very impressive in their first two games of the season.
