Oakleaf High School – Keshawn King ran for three touchdowns and caught another as the Oakleaf Knights ran away with their game against the Clay Blue Devils. Clay scored first thanks to a Jaylan Jenkins touchdown pass to Ajay Belanger. The extra point was blocked and the score was 6-0 early. Yet King would respond right away. He bursts a 75 yard touchdown run to put his team up 7-6.
Disaster would strike for Oakleaf next as Clay’s Zach Alvarado recovered a Knight fumble in the endzone to put Clay up 13-7. It would be the last points the Blue Devils would score in the game as Oakleaf put the rushing game in overdrive.
King ran like a man possessed, showcasing speed and power as he assaulted the Blue Devil Defense. They had no answer for him as he scored three touchdowns, two on the ground and one in the air. King scored on a pass from QB Jordan Johnson. Johnson would add another score in the game on the ground, as well as one in the air to Jamaric Bonner.

In the end Oakleaf capitalized on Clay’s mishaps. Missed field goals, penalties, and poor execution had many in the Clay stands looking bewildered. The Blue Devil sidelines also looked on in disbelief as Oakleaf scored at will in the second half. The loss brings up more questions about Clay’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde season so far. Noone knows who the real Clay team is at this point, and they must go back to the drawing board to establish their identity.

As for Oakleaf, they’ve had a tough schedule this year and before their win against Clay saw themselves at just 2-2 on the season. But a close loss to Buccholz seemed to motivate them and prepared them for the big test this past Friday. The Knights look to keep running through the season like they did Friday Night to keep the playoff dream alive.
