Tronti Tosses 5 Touchdowns in First Half: Ponte Vedra Big Over Westide

Westside High School- There were only two moments of excitement in this game for the Westside Wolverines and both of them lasted about five minutes each. The first moment was an 80 yard Winston Sweeting pass to Raekwon Peterson on the 3rd play of the game to put Westside on the board early against visiting Ponte Vedra.

The other was a stoppage in play late in the second quarter after a disturbance in the stands forced both teams to head to the south endzone.

In the end, both mattered very little in the contest as Ponte Vedra scored 41 unanswered points in the first half to take a commanding lead in the game. The first half was all Ponte Vedra, thanks in part to their stud Quarterback Nick Tronti. Tronti hooked up with several different targets in the game. His biggest play maker, receiver #1 JD Pirris was his biggest target in the game. Pirris nabbed touchdown after touchdown using his big frame and large catch radius. It really didn’t matter where Tronti put the ball, his receivers came down with it. Lucky for them Tronti was on target all game.

Westsdie was plagued by turnovers and inconsistent play. It’s been the story of their season. However the Wolverines do have talent on the roster, and #11 Dale George is one of them. George routinely got open while running his routes, and at one point in the game made two incredible one hand catches skying for the ball.

However the effort of George and the other Wolverines were just not enough on this night. Ponte Vedra would add two more scores on the running second half clock, as the Sharks defeated the Wolverines 53-16.
