Seven years ago, the St. Johns Middle School Athletic Association was formed to help fill the need for middle school sports in St. Johns County.
When the schools were unable to support sports for financial reasons, the association was formed with a licensing agreement to use the middle school names, logo and mascots.
The league leases the fields from St. Johns County Parks and Recreation, with most fields owned and managed by the school district or county. Nease, Bartram Trail and Creekside High also occasionally host games.
The league offers 7 different sports for all 10 middle schools in the county with regular season games as well as county championships.
The ten schools that comprise the league are: Gamble Rogers, Murray, Switzerland Point, Sebastian, Landrum, Fruit Cove, Pacetti Bay, Patriot Oaks, Valley Ridge and Liberty Pines.
