Pop Warner Playoffs: Saturday Recap

Lake Shore vs Grandpark Jr Pee Wee

Arlington came into the contest very confident against  Pablo Creek. Their regular season meeting was dominated by the Seminoles so many thought the outcome would be the same. Not so… Pablo Creek jumped out early versus Arlington and never looked back. The Saints defense pitched the shutout against Arlington, the first time they were shut out since early in the season. The Saints were clicking on all cylinders and are at full strength heading into the championship game.

Oceanway Blue Bucs vs Creeks Gold Jr. Pee Wee

The Bucs and Outlaws face each other for the second time this year. Their first game ending with a win by Creeks Gold 8-6 at Creeks. After their first round bye, Creeks Gold had a week to game plan for the Bucs, and their plan came to fruition in the second half. After a scoreless first half where the Bucs and Outlaws played tough defense, the scoring got underway. Creeks Gold used a power running game to set up their first score of the game, a pass  to the corner of the endzone. The Bucs would quickly respond with a wide receiver screen pass that went for a TD. The ensuing drive by Creeks went for a TD and put the game out of reach 16-6. Creeks Gold will face Pablo Creek in the championship game next week.

Pee Wee Sweet Water vs Forest View/ Pee Wee In pee wee action Sweet Water took on Forest View in a #1 vs #4 matchup. Sweet Water came into the contest #1 after defeating Grand Park last week in a hard hitting emotional affair. Forest View came into the game as the #4 seed navigating several ups and downs during the regular season. But this game was different for the Tigers, as they capitalized on several mistakes by Sweet Water to control the contest and upset the #1 seed. Forestview would  face the winner of Grand Park vs WFL.

Grand Park vs WFL Wildcats  / Pee Wee In another upset special in the Pee Wee division Grandpark fell to the WFL Wildcats. It was clear that Sweetwater and Grandpark were physically spent from their battle the week before. The Wildcats took advantage of this by a focused attack which defined their season. This team has play makers and made more plays than Grand Park in this game. They’ve been doing it all season and now will play for the city championship.
