There might be three weeks left in the regular season but the last three playoff spots will be decided by next Tuesday night.
The top team in each division of the Duval County Public School Conference will advance to the city playoffs in the coming weeks.
Last year, Fletcher capped a undefeated season beating Twin Lakes in the championship, while previous champ Gilbert beat Stilwell in the third place game.
Here is a quick rundown of each division and what has to happen for each team to make the playoffs.
West
Leader: Lake Shore (6-0, 4-0) clinched the West Division with a 50-0 win over Stilwell last night. The Warriors defense is lethal and doesn’t allow many teams to get past the 50-yard line while giving up just an average of five first downs.
Eliminated: Jeff Davis (4-2, 3-1), Jeb Stuart (3-3, 2-2), James Weldon Johnson (4-2, 2-2), Stilwell (1-5, 1-3) and Baldwin (0-6, 0-4).
East
Leaders: Fletcher (5-1, 4-0) travels to Arlington (6-0, 4-0) Oct. 25 to decide the East title. The winner clinches the division and a playoff berth, while the loser is eliminated from the postseason.
Eliminated: Kernan (2-4, 2-2), Mayport (2-4, 1-3), Landmark (2-4, 1-3), Ft. Caroline (0-5, 0-4)
South
Leaders: Twin Lakes (6-0, 4-0) travels to Mandarin (3-3, 3-1) Oct. 25 for a 2:30 in school game. A Twin Lakes win would clinch the division and playoff spot. A Mandarin win would create a three-way tiebreaker shootout providing Dupont handles arch-rival Landon too. A Mandarin win and Landon win would give Mandarin the division and playoff berth.
Eliminated: Landon (4-2, 2-2), Southside (1-5, 0-4), Darnell Cookman (0-6, 0-4)
North
Leaders: Matthew Gilbert (5-0, 4-0) travels to Ribault (5-0, 4-0) with the winner taking the North Division title and the playoff berth, while the loser is eliminated from the playoffs.
Eliminated: Kirby Smith (4-2, 3-2), YMLA Butler (3-2, 2-2), Highlands (1-4, 1-3), Oceanway (1-5, 1-4), Northwestern (0-5, 0-4)
