Congratulations to the Junior Pee Wee Creeks Black Outlaws on winning the Pop Warner DIII City Championship Wednesday Night. Creeks defeated Sweetwater 26-6. The Outlaws capped off an impressive undefeated season with an emphatic win over the second best team in the division. Creeks Black defeated them 7-0 earlier in the year.
It was a great regular season for the team as they relied on a ball control offense coupled with a dominating defense. The defense yielded a total of 13 points all year and was the heavy favorites by Duval Sports analyst Andre’ Ellis on the Duval Sports Show this past Tuesday. ” I like Creeks Black in this game. They are the #1 seed, they’ve only given up 7 points all year”. Sweetwater played them tough in their first matchup of the season losing 7-0 which prompted analyst Phill Myers to make a bold prediction ” I like Sweetwater in the game. A lot of teams are getting revenge on their regular season opponents in the playoffs”. Revenge is a dish best served cold, but unfortunately for Sweetwater, Creeks warmed up in the second half.
It was a tough hard fought game between two very good teams. A close contest early on was thrust wide open by Creeks who capitalized on mistakes by Sweetwater. It’s a common theme that Outlaw opponents endured all year as Creeks wore down every opponent. In this game they had the opportunity to study their opponent since they played them earlier in the season. The Creeks coaches were ready for Sweetwater’s game plan and they were effective in stopping them on offense and exploiting holes in the defense.
Now it’s time for the regional playoffs and Creeks will have a bye in the first round. They will play November 12th at First Coast High School against a team from either the Florida Panhandle or Big Bend (Tallahassee) area.
Congratulations on the Creeks Black Outlaws on winning the City Championship. Take it all the way!
