Can’t believe it but we have reached the end of the regular season already, like always this football season went really fast.
Yes we still have five weeks left of football with the playoffs and the state finals Dec 8-10 in Orlando, but after that its all over.
Lets get right to the action this week, where many kids will play their final high school game before turning in their pads on Monday.
Week 11 picks
Middleburg at Clay
Outlook: The longest continuous rivalry in Clay County since 1995, has been dominated by Clay winners of 15 of the last 16 meetings. Clay leads the all-time series 16-9 and has won five in a row in the series. Both are already in the playoffs but this one is personal and all about bragging rights.
Andre: Clay
Corey: Clay
Bradford at Crescent City
Outlook: Bradford has had a phenomenal season and is playoff bound again and looks to finish off the regular season with a win before the playoffs next week. The Tornadoes are on a roll.
Andre: Bradford
Corey: Bradford
Mandarin at Fletcher
Outlook: Before the season started if you would have told me both of these teams would be sitting home next week and not in the playoffs I would have said your crazy. While the playoffs are out of the equation, winning the Gateway Conference isn’t out of the picture with a win here and a Raines loss Saturday.
Andre: Mandarin
Corey: Mandarin
First Coast at Jackson
Outlook: Longtime Northside rivals collide on Main Street in annual meeting. Both programs are struggling big time and a win here would go along way for both teams towards confidence to next season.
Andre: First Coast
Corey: First Coast
Baker County at Madison County
Outlook: Baker County can do something no other Wildcat team in the schools 65 plus history could do, finish 10-0 heading into the playoffs. With Seth Paige and Joe Green, anything is possible with these Wildcats. However, playing at Boot Hill is a huge problem,, its one of the toughest places to play in the entire state. The Cowboys are ranked No. 1 in 1A and big favorites to win the 1A state title.
Andre: Madison
Corey: Madison
Baldwin at Lee
Outlook: Gavin Screws and Derick Jones played together on the same Sweetwater Pop Warner team years ago winning a title together. Yet tonight they will be on opposite sides of the field as opposing quarterbacks. Both teams are playoff bound and hoping for a great and injury free game.
Andre: Lee
Corey: Lee
Bartram Trail at Nease
Outlook: Until last years meeting, these two old time rivals hadn’t played each other in a while thanks in part to Nease wanting to cancel the series. Its a good thing its back on, although Nease may be second guessing their decision after tonight.
Andre: Bartram Trail
Corey: Bartram Trail
North Marion at Oakleaf
Outlook: With no playoff berth in sight, this is the last game for several of the Knights including Nick Roberts, what a way to go out with an athletic North Marion team coming to the Dungeon.
Andre: North Marion
Corey: North Marion
Fleming Island at Orange Park
Outlook: The 14th meeting between arch-rivals should be another good matchup between the two. Fleming Island leads the all-time series 7-6 and has won 6 in a row in the series and has all the momentum right now.
Andre: Fleming Island
Corey: Orange Park
St. Augustine at Palatka
Outlook: The second oldest rivalry in the state behind Desoto-Hardee takes place tonight in Palatka. St. Augustine and Palatka have been playing continuously since 1922, with St. Augustine leading 51-43-3. Unfortunately this hasn’t been much of a rivalry lately as since 2000, the Jackets have won 15 of the last 17 meetings.
Andre: St. Augustine
Corey: St. Augustine
Trinity at Pine Forest
Outlook: Trinity makes the six hour plus trip to take on a Pine Forest team coming off an tough 28-21 loss to Tate last week which put them out of the playoffs. Another decent matchup for Trinity before the playoffs start next week.
Andre: Trinity
Corey: Trinity
Suwannee at Columbia
Outlook: 82nd meeting tonight with the Old Oaken Bucket trophy at stake between Suwannee (6-3) and Columbia (5-3) in Lake City. Columbia leads the all-time series 55-23-3 and has won eight in a row in the series which dates back to 1927. The two arch-rivals separated by one exit off I-10 have been playing each other in all phases of football from pop warner, middle school and now high school.
Andre: Columbia
Corey: Columbia
Atlantic Coast at Parker
Outlook: The Stingrays can close out the season on a two game winning streak with a win tonight over a reeling Parker team that has dropped five in a row.
Andre: Atlantic Coast
Corey: Atlantic Coast
Westside at Englewood
Outlook: Westside can close out the season with a winning season and a bowl berth with a win here. The Wolverines closed out the season as one of the hottest teams in the area.
Andre: Westside
Corey: Westside
Fernandina Beach at Yulee
Outlook: County rivals go at it tonight in Yulee to close out the regular season. No love lost here at all as Yulee reopened up years ago and took kids from Fernandina Beach. Look for Jamari Peacock to have another huge night.
Andre: Yulee
Corey: Yulee
Menendez at Matanzas
Outlook: Matanzas clinched its first playoff berth last week with a win over Deltona and looks to keep the momentum going into the playoffs with another win tonight.
Andre: Matanzas
Corey: Matanzas
Creekside at Ponte Vedra
Outlook: One team is trying to avoid a winless season while the other is trying to cap a perfect regular season. We like the Sharks chances in this one in a huge miss match.
Andre: Ponte Vedra
Corey: Ponte Vedra
Ed White at Sandalwood
Outlook: These two schools opened the same year back in the 1970s and have also even shared football coaches over the years. These two have been playing on and off over the years typically in high scoring affairs. We don’t expect anything different tonight especially with the Saints having just played Monday in a emotional district shootout.
Andre: Sandalwood
Corey: Sandalwood
Paxon at Union County
Outlook: A great matchup of two talented tailbacks in Akari Boss and Charles Strong. Which one will have a better game tonight, who ever wins the ground game wins the war.
Andre: Union
Corey: Union
Ribault at Raines
Outlook: The 47th annual Northwest Classic kicks off tomorrow at Raines at 2 p.m.. Raines leads the all-time series 33-13, although Ribault won last year. Throw out the records in this one, as the series is 4-3 over the last 7 years. Both are coming off tough games last week and in Ribault’s case a huge win over Yulee and district shootout win in Live Oak.
Andre: Raines
Corey: Ribault
