The first round of the state playoffs begin Thursday and Friday for 192 football teams, the dream to win a state title is their for every team.
The playoff format is simple just ‘survive and advance’ and move on to the next round of the playoffs. It takes 4 wins to win the small school state title (1A-4A) and 5 wins to win the big school state title (5A-8A).
So without further ado, here is my prediction for all of the eight classes.
Projected spreads are from notorious expert Joe Pinkos, who has a mathematical formula for picking high school football games across the state of Florida
First round (16 teams)
Cedar Creek Christian at No. 6 NFC
Pinkos: NFC by 38
Corey: NFC
Outlook: The Saints are making their second straight playoff appearance and also second straight trip to NFC in the first round of the playoffs. NFC is a multiple time state champion and to much to handle for the Saints.
FAMU at No. 4 University Christian (6-2)
Pinkos: UC by 63
Corey: UC
Outlook: This is one of those games you really feel sorry for the team, FAMU has no business in the playoffs with just one win. Benefiting from being in a two team district, the Rattlers were already in the playoffs before the season even started and were outscored 389-54 during the season. Imagine what the No. 4 ranked Christians will do to them, running clock as soon as possible and backups in by third quarter.
Foundation Academy at Deltona Trinity
Pinkos: Foundation by 20
Corey: Foundation
Warner Christian at No. 2 Victory Christian (8-1)
Pinkos: Victory by 48
Corey: Victory
Admiral Farragut at No. 1 Cambridge Christian (9-0)
Pinkos: Cambridge by 14
Corey: Cambridge
Seffner Christian at No. 5 Northside Christian (8-2)
Pinkos: Northside by 4
Corey: Northside
Village Academy at First Baptist
Pinkos: First Baptist by 20
Corey: First Baptist
Community School at No. 3 Champagnat (7-1)
Pinkos: Champagnat by 21
Corey: Champagnat
State title game
Pinkos: UC over Cambridge Christian
Corey: UC over Champagnat
