The Lee Generals are for real ladies and gentlemen. They welcomed Columbia to the back yard Friday night for a 43-7 bar b que before Thanksgiving. On the menu was Tiger and it tasted sweet for the Generals, especially to Quarterback Derrick Jones. He ate up the Tigers on the ground and through the air. He passed for 173 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

Defense was also the key as linebacker Keirston Johnson scored an early safety to set the tone. He ended the night with 10 tackles including 3 TFL and a sack. His fellow defenders Lloyd Hayes and Jamal Davis provided the pressure all night holding Columbia to just 7 points a week after they scored 35 against Lincoln.

Cam Wakefield converted several first downs in the run game for the Generals as he again pierced another opponent’s defense with his speed. Columbia (7-4) had no answer for them on either side of the ball. It was a complete team effort for Lee who repeated their regular season feat of holding the Tigers to just 7 points on offense.
Lee (9-1) has not lost a game since the first week of the season and will attempt to make it 10 in a row when they face Bartram Trail.

Bartram Trail-27 Buchholz-0
Story by: Larry Savage
Junior Joey Gatewood ran for a couple of 1-yard touchdowns, and the Bears struck early with a big pass play. But it was their defense that stole the show in a 27-0 win over the Bobcats in the Region 1-7A semifinals Friday.
Buchholz, which won at Bartram Trail in the regular season to clinch its second straight District 3 title, was never in this one.
Riley Smith hit Gunnar Hitzeman on an 86-yard touchdown on Bartram Trail’s third offensive play, and the Bears went on to score on four of their five possessions in the first half, building a 20-0 lead.

Bartram Trail (8-4) is on a roll. After defeating Oakleaf to advance to the playoffs as district runner ups, they have knocked off two district winners in back to back weeks including their own district winners Buchholz (8-3). They look to make it three when they face district champion Lee next week for the right to play in the State Semifinals vs either Viera or Plant.

St. Augustine- 41 Crestview-14
After taking down Niceville in the first round of the Class 6A FHSAA playoffs, St. Augustine turned their sites to Crestview(10-2).
The Bulldogs came into the game with just one loss on the season but the Jackets also only had one loss. In fact St. Augustine had not lost since week one of the season. In this game Crestview struck first on defense when St. Augustine Quarterback Cole Northrop fumbled and Sam Johnson returned it 60 yards for the game’s first touchdown. That would be the highlight of the evening for Crestview as St. Augustine cranked up the effort. Cole Northrop redeemed himself by tossing three TD a passes in the game, his first 40 yards to WR Jacob Feliciano to put St. Augustine up 13-7.
Jahquise Russell ran the ball extremely hard all game. He would get into the endzone in the 2nd quarter to push his teams advantage to 20-6 and the route was on. He finished with 210 yards on 33 carries and scored two touchdowns. Tyrek Russ gained his second, third and fourth interceptions in two playoff games to lead the defense who held Crestview to one of its lowest point totals this year.
St. Augustine (11-1) seems to be getting stronger as the playoffs roll along. They are surprising a lot of teams with their ability to not only run the ball with Russell but pass effectively with Northrop. The wold card is their defense though. They held the high flying Niceville to 7 points for most of their game last week before a late comeback. This game they made sure they kept the pedal to the metal not allowing Crestview to get back into the game. The Jackets will face Navarre (11-1) in the Regional Finals. The winner will face the winner of Vanguard ( Ocala) vs Lake Gibson.

They were in total control of the game from start to finish. Marcus Crowley scored two rushing touchdowns, Frankie Onate added a field goal, and a Austin Thomas to Dylan Pate connection put the Conqueors up 38-0 before Florida High (7-5) scored their first points of the game. Complete domination in two games by TCA.

Ponte Vedra-35 Ribault -32
The game of the night pitted the Ribault Trojans versus the Ponte Vedra Sharks. It would be the classic defense versus offensive matchup football junkies love to see. Ribault was led by DE Jaylen Joyner and RB Javon Williams who spearheaded a defensive and rushing attack that fueled Ribalt’s late season push. Ponte Vedra (11-0) came into the game undefeated led by Quarterback Nick Tronti and Runningback Hal Swan. Swan started the scoring rushing for his first touchdown mid way through the first quarter as Ponte Vedra struck first. Yet Ribualt would get on the board with a Williams TD run but miss the extra point trailing 7-6. Tronti would toss a touchdown pass as Ponte Vedra built a early lead at halftime 14-6.
14 -6 PV leads Ribault 2nd qtr on a Nick Tronti TD pass
— Duval Sports (@DuvalSports) November 19, 2016
Hal Swan rushed for 197 yards a two touchdowns leading the Ponte Vedra offense. It took a while for Ribault (7-4) to adjust to the Sharks offense as Ponte Vedra gashed them with zone plays. Ponte Vedra would build a 28-6 lead in the second half before Ribault made a furious comeback. The Trojans scored 26 points in the second half but came up just seconds short of the miraculous comeback. Their defense harassed Tronti but had no answer for the shifty Swan. Ponte Vedra can thank a second half touchdown as the deciding factor. Ribault can thank the four extra points missed that would’ve been the difference in a 35-32 loss.
Ribault exits the playoffs in the second round for the second straight year. Ponte Vedra moves on to face Tallahassee Rickards next week in the 1-5A regional final.
