Sweetwater Moves On At Disney! Defeats North Philly 20-6

Disney, Orlando FL- Four Sweetwater Hawks scored touchdowns on the way to their first round victory at the Pop Warner National Championships Sunday. Quarterback Daniel Plummer III tossed two touchdown passes, one to WR #11 Charles Thompson and another to WR #13 Marcus Peterson, as their high powered offense jumped out early and pulled away late.

Runningback #3 Micah Simmons put Sweetwater on the board first on a touchdown run as Sweetwater led 6-0. The Philly Aztecs responded with a touchdown of their own when their QB #2 dropped back to pass on 4th down but decided to take off up the middle for a 10 yard touchdown run tying the game 6-6. That would be the only points the Aztecs would score on the night as the Sweetwater defense dominated the affair.

In addition to his touchdown on offense, Peterson garnered 2 sacks, an interception and a safety on defense leading the swarming Hawks hit squad. They harassed North Philly, forcing fumbles and causing turnovers which frustrated the talented team from the Commonwealth. The Aztecs had no answer on offense for the Sweetwater speed and athleticism on defense.

Sweetwater now moves on to round two of the Pop Warner National Championships where they will face the Patriots YTF who defeated Gilroy 36-6 in their first round game. The game will be Wednesday at 1:15pm.
