Ribault H.S- In kicking off our official basketball coverage of the season, we caught one of the city’s oldest rivalries as the Jackson Tigers took on the Ribault Trojans. Jackson defeated Ribault 63-58 in overtime to give the Trojans their first loss of the season. The top ranked Trojans are now (6-1 )on the season. Jackson improved to (5-3) on the season.
Jackson’s Keshawn Curry led them with 20 points, while Ryan Wallace had 14 points for Ribault. The Trojans led late in the contest 45-42 thanks to stellar play from Devon “Monster”Mathews. But Curry would lead a thrilling comeback to give Jackson a 54-52 lead with under a minute to play. The game would eventually go to overtime where Jackson pulled away to get the victory.
Prayers for a speedy recovery to Keshawn Curry who suffered an injury in the game that left him bloodided. Reports state that the talented baller recieved several stiches but was released from Wolfosn’s Children’s Hospital early Saturday Morning and is doing well.
Look for these two teams to clash again in the Gateway Conference Tournament in January. Follow all the action on DuvalSports.com
