The ESPN Top 300 High School prospects for the class of 2018 was released this week and once again there are some local Northeast Florida prospects on the list. Last year the First Coast was represented well in the 2017 ESPN Juniors Top 300 last year. The ranking lists players on a stars system and provides names of some of the most highly recruited athletes in High School Football.

#24. Joey Gatewood

Joey Gatewood QB Bartram

After sharing Quarterback duties last year at Bartram Trail, Gatewood is ready to be unleashed as the team’s main offensive weapon in 2017. He showed what he could do late in the 2016 season and playoffs last year when he completely destroyed two of the top ranked defenses in our area Oakleaf and Lee. He also made our mid season Top QB report of 2016 last year. He is set to shatter lots of records this year.

#42. Tyreke Johnson

Johnson showcased why he’s one of the top defensive backs in the country this year every time he stepped on the field. He will be motivated going into this season as he fell in the defensive back rankings on ESPN. He is one of the most talented athletes in our area and opposing offenses knew it as well. They very rarely challenged him last year but the playmaker still managed to make the Duval Sports Small School Honorable Mention Team, which named the best statistical leaders from the 2016 high school football season.

#186 Will Mallory

Listed as a tight end, Mallory has all the versatility of a wide receiver as well. He’s big, long and fast. Scouts have noticed these attributes in the last few years. Mallory’s play on the field cemented his status . He caught 46passes for 900 yards, 12 TD, with a 19.6 ypc. He was tops in our area for a reason.

#214.  Chamarri Conner

conner300

Chamarri Conner leads the back end of the four time State Champion, Trinity Christian Conquerors defense this year. This talented athlete is a four star prospect that will no doubt be used in other areas just like former teammate and DB Shaun Wade last year. Conner loves contact, and that attribute about his game makes him one of the most feared athletes on the field.

#254 Carter Bradley

bradley300

Bradley is a big athlete that fits the perfect profile of your typical collegiate quarterback. This is why he has gained the attention from scouts and recruiting media outlets over the country. Bradley threw for 1,398 yards, and 17 TDs last year with only 7 interceptions. He made the Duval Sports Honorable Third Team for Small Schools last year. With his best target back, look for Bradley to rack up massive numbers through the air.

Once again Florida leads the nation in top high school football recruits and prospects. Jacksonville and North East Florida certainly plays an important role in that.
