Duval’s Game of the Week features the 7-2 Ribault Trojans visiting the 6-3 Raines Vikings on Saturday. The game will feature two of the areas top coaches in Anthony Flynn (Ribault) and Deran Wiley (Raines). As well as one of the areas top offenses versus one its stingiest defenses.
The Trojans come into the game riding a four game winning streak. They are 6-1 in their district and looking to cap off a successful regular season.
Their defense is holding opponents to less than 7 points a game in their last four contest. They’ve pitched two shutouts on the year and their only losses came at the hands of First Coast and Bishop Kenny, two division winners.
On offense, the Trojans play ball control offense by running the ball with Davonte Lawrence, but can hit the big play to Brandon Thomas when needed. Running behind big John Mays has helped the Trojans become a very successful football team. They’ll look to keep tha ball out of the hands of Raine’s play makers.
The Raines Vikings are undefeated in their division boasting an impressive 4-0 record. Their road to rivalry week has not been easy, but it’s made them battle tested for the road ahead.
Their offense led by Quarterback Micah Zanders has exploded during the season. They’ve leaned heavily on a air attack that can score from any angle on the field. It helps when Wide Receiver Rick Wells is at one of those angles. Raines will look to get the ball into their play maker’s hands early and play opportunistic defense.
On defense the Vikings are led by Linebackers Michael Pickney and William Dailey. They fly side line to side line making plays and allows the athletic secondary to make plays on the ball. This aggressive style of play has disrupted offenses rhythm and timing all year.
This rivalry game should be another exciting affair. Both teams are looking to end the regular season on a high note. No better to show out then to do it at the Northwest Classic.
