JACKSONVILLE- It’s Duval County’s turn. The 2017 Duval County Middle School football schedule (via the Duval County School Athletic Director Tammy Talley) is set to start today!
The season was originally set to kick off Sept 12 with 12 games including a rematch of the 2016 county championship game between 2016 defending champion Matthew Gilbert and 2015 champion Fletcher. However, the impact of Hurricane Irma forced district officials to cancel and reschedule several games. All games are still tentatively set for 5:30pm, however some could be changed later to in school games or night games. Games later in the year will be changed due to division preference as some teams will be required to play division games that were missed during week one and two.

There is a lot of talent in Duval County this year that have come up from the youth football ranks to showcase their talents. They have teams very optimistic about the chances of making it to the playoffs and winning the championship. But they must play the games first, and with the modified schedule all teams are playing divisional games in the first week. So these games are paramount in terms of winning their divisions and advancing to the playoffs. Some notable match ups include:
