St. Augustine-This battle between two of the areas best did not disappoint, as St Augustine edged out Clay 26-21. Running back #5 Brandon Johnson scored the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Jackets. #2 Cedrin Daniel scored twice for St. Augustine. He’s a big athlete who feel like this performance prepared his team for the upcoming season. Head Coach Brian Braddock is excited about the ability to make plays in the air as opposed to on the ground as they did last year. The offense will be lead by Quarterback Austin Reed. Reed is described as a risk taker who is not afraid to go for the big play. It’s that killer instinct that has his teammates willing to go the extra mile for him and the offense.

Running back Aundre Carter fits the mold of Clay football player perfectly. He’s a big strong back that can move the chains with every carry. He gained some very good runs against St. Augustine in their kickoff classic. RB Christian Swilley got in the endzone for Clay potentially previewing the approach for Head Coach Josh Hoekstra. It’s going to be a running back by committee again, and to noone’s surprise, their still going to run the ball. The question is can they be as effective has last year’s dynamic duo.
