A showdown between No. 1 Swiss Point and No. 2 Gamble Rogers set the tone for the season last week.
Now we turn our attention to Week 2 and who has made the necessary adjustments.
Week 2 kicks off with Game of the Week featuring No. 2 Fruit Cove and No. 5 Landrum Tuesday 5 p.m. at Plantation Park, followed by No. 4 Liberty Pines and No. 10 Valley Ridge at 7 p.m.

1. Gamble Rogers Stingrays (1-0)
Previous ranking: 2
Last week: Defeated No. 1 Swiss Point 29-6
Note: In a 1 vs 2 showdown, Gamble Rogers took a close game and made it a rout in the second half thanks to Aaron Wynn and King Beford. Now the Stingrays will have a huge target on their backs for the rest of the season, something coach Matt Potak will have to deal with.

2. Fruit Cove Flyers (1-0)
Previous ranking: 3
Last week: Defeated Valley Ridge 48-6
Note: Despite a coaching change, the Flyers continue to roll opening up with an easy win over Valley Ridge at home. This one was over well before half.

3. Swiss Point Raiders (0-1)
Previous ranking: 1
Last week: Fell 29-6 to Gamble Rogers
Note: The loss to Gamble Rogers wasn’t that shocking as much as the margin of defeat was. Despite the loss, the Raiders will rebound from it and still be in the mix to defend their county title behind Dominic Fields.
This week: Patriot Oaks (Thur), 5
4. Liberty Pines Wolves (1-0)
Previous ranking: 4
Last week: Defeated Murray 48-18
Note: Led by Eric Weatherly, the Wolves are a dark horse contender to follow. Weatherly scored 5 touchdowns last week in the win over Murray.
This week: Valley Ridge, 7
5. Landrum Lions (1-0)
Previous ranking: 5
Last week: Defeated Sebastian 20-8
Note: Rumor has it coach Todd Fordham might have sat several of his starters in the spring jamboree and were not as bad as they appeared. Thats a good thing to hear considering they didnt play well at all. I’d say the rumor might have been true with the opening win.

6. Patriot Oaks Chargers (1-0)
Previous ranking: 8
Last week: Defeated Pacetti Bay 28-14
Note: While all the talk was all about the 1 vs 2 showdown between Gamble Rogers and Swiss Point, the shock around the community was Patriot upsetting Pacetti Bay.

7. Sebastian Eagles (0-1)

Last week: Fell to Landrum 20-8
Note: Sebastian put up one heck of a fight with Landrum causing many to think Sebastian might be a sleeper team to watch out for.

Last week: Fell to Patriot Oaks 28-14
Note: Many were suprised by the loss to Patriot Oaks, can they rebound from such a tough loss.

Note: Murray has now lost 8 in a row and with a new staff hopes to end that streak this week.

Note: Valley looked well over their heads in the devastating loss to Frui Cove. Neither the offense or defense could get in a rhythm.
