University Christian- It was sweet revenge for the University Christian middle school football team as they avenged their 2016 loss to Fernandina Middle 44-12 Tuesday evening. UC relied on a balanced attack on offense featuring their many talented weapons. Coach Matt Thomas is excited about his team this year, and rightfully so. Their performance against the Pirates gave everyone optimism that this could be their year to take it all the way.
University Christian is led by running back #6 Author (Fatts) Walker who rushed for two touchdowns in the game. On Fatt’s second touchdown, he scored on a busted play, scooping up the ball and racing past defenders for a long touchdown run. He wasn’t the only UC player to get in on the action.
Quarterbacks #11 Terrance Ford and #2 Larry Edwards both led their offensive units to scores on the night. One of Edward’s scores came on a strong run up the middle as he powered through would be tacklers to the endzone, putting the team up 32-6. Ford would show off his arm, lofting a beautiful strike to the corner of the endzone to #15 WR Orell Gray for a score to put them up 38-6. Fernandina’s quarterback #2 Cameron Miller was a bright spot for the team, scoring twice for the Pirates. Yet he could not prevent the Christians from taking the contest in conquering fashion 44-12.
Next on the schedule, the Christians will look to conquer the conquerors as they face Trinity Middle next week.
