Week #1 Duval County Middle School Football Score Rundown

It was an exciting first week of middle school football in Duval County. The long wait was worth it, as several teams showed early on in 2017 that they are not the same teams from a year ago. Check out the scores from week #1 below .

Week 1 Sept 26

Jeb Stuart-14 at Lake Shore-0

Perhaps the biggest shocker of the first week was Lake Shore falling to Jeb Stuart. Lake Shore was the defending western division champions and were there only defending divisional champion to lose in week one. This western division changes seemingly every year, and it looks like there will be a changing of the guard this year as well. Jeb Stuart is a team to keep an eye on.

JW Johnson-6 at Jeff Davis-26

Jeff Davis was a 7th grade heavy team last year, and played many teams very tough. Now they have a veteran team with lots of talent and it showed in their first game against a very good and well coached James Weldon Johnson team. Jeff Davis are early favorites out of the West and they did not disappoint in their debut.

Southside-16 at Landon-8

Southside avenges their 2016 loss to Landon by defeating them on the road. To get a victory in the first game is a big accomplishment for Southside’s confidence going forward.

Darnell Cookman-6 at Twin Lakes-38

The south division champions took care of business Tuesday against Darnell Cookman. The Wolves look hungry for another chance to get to the playoffs and vie for a city championship.

Mayport-6 at Landmark-22

Landmark gains a big victory over old time rival Mayport. The Seahawks are looking to challenge Fletcher for the East division title this year.

Fletcher-36 at Fort Caroline-0

Fletcher looks dominant early on and that should be no surprise to any. A shutout victory over Ft. Caroline looks good on paper, but their next test against Kernan will tell us a lot more.

Dupont -21 at Mandarin-0 Click link for story

Arlington-14 at Kernan-8

In an incredible overtime affair, Arlington edged out the victory over division rival Kernan. Arlington has a “freshman phenom” at Quarterback Quentaz Andrews. One of the first 6th graders to start at Quarterback middle school football,  Andrews went 4  for 6 for 137 yards in the victory for Arlington.

Stilwell-22 at Baldwin-18

It was a barn burner out in Baldwin between Stilwell and Baldwin. The Patriots came away with the three point victory to move to 1-0 on the season
