Fighting Christians go marching in all over Southeast Georgia

ST. MARY’S, GEORGIA – Like their ancient ancestors before them, University Christian hopped on their chariots and traveled to the stadium in hopes of slaying their opponent.
The modern day version of the Roman soldiers, the University Christian Soldiers marched into St. Mary’s Middle School and single handedly slayed the Bobcats 54-12 Tuesday night.

Like the gladiators before them who wore battle gear and had a shield to protect them, the Christians defense protected their team and inflicted pain on their opponents.
The Christians defense came ready to play picking off the Bobcats offense four times (including three for scores) recovered a fumble for a score and also returned a punt for another score.
Kyree Hammonds had two pick sixes for scores and Mark Brown also had a pick six to lead the Christians.
Arthur Fatz Walker had a punt return for a score and Orell Gray had a fumble recovery for a touchdown, while Peyton Penland added an interception.
Offensively, the Christians were led by William Belton, who scored two touchdowns and Larry Edwards, who had a running touchdown.
University Christian (3-2) travels to Bolles Oct. 10 at 4:30 in a Big Three showdown in its next game.
