In our final playoff rankings of the year heading into the playoffs, we see a lot of movement that indicates teams getting better toward the end of the season. With only four teams being able to make the post-season, most of the team’s goals in football should be to show improvement from game one to game 7. - Ribault(6-0)- Ribault sealed an undefeated season as a very good team. The Colts talked the talk before the season, walked the walk during the regular season, and now have to finish the race in the playoffs. We had them #1 at the start of the season, so this team is the definitely front runners for the championship.
- Jeff Davis(6-0)- The Chargers seem to be getting better with every game. They are talented and physical and they completed the undefeated season as well. They seem to be peaking at the right time, and the coaches are getting the most out of their players.
- Dupont(6-0)- This team is loaded with skill and talented and it showed in the regular season as they went undefeated. They may not know their true potential as they seem to coach and play down to their opponents level. That’s a cause for concern going into the playoffs. The talent is there however and this team has the capability of making it to the ship.
- Gilbert(4-1)- The Panthers ended the season with one loss to Ribault, but will miss the playoffs for the first time in school history. Still, if a down year for Gilbert is losing one game, then they clearly have set the bar astronomically high for others to reach.
- Kirby Smith(3-2)– Kirby’s two losses came to Gilbert and Ribault, arguably the best teams in the city. Not bad for the Comets who had lots of talent on the field and they proved that they were one of the best in the city.
- J.E.B Stuart(5-1)- JEB Stuart also showed that they were one of the best in the city by navigating the western division. With only one loss to playoff teams Jeff Davis, they can hold their head high on a successful season.
- Lake Shore(4-2)– Lake Shore didn’t have the year they are accustomed to having, but it was still very good nonetheless. Falling to Jeff Davis and Jeb Stuart in tough contests, proved to be their Achilles heal. They were able to jump back into the power rankings with wins over teams like James Weldon Johnson.
- Landmark(5-2)- Speaking of James Weldon, JWJ handed Landmark their second loss of the year. The Seahawks are limping into the playoffs after a very high and fast start to the season. With only two losses its still a great campaign for the Hawks, but they must figure out how to recapture that mid season magic in order to advance in the playoffs.
- Fletcher(5-2)- Fletcher seemed like they were on a roll until they got rolled in the final game of the season by Jeff Davis. JD is a very good team and so is Fletcher. They are missing the playoffs for the first time in school history, but they are not missing the power rankings with only two losses.
- Arlington(5-2)- This team may be playing the best football in the county right now. After losing to Landmark in OT, and Fletcher on a short week, they had a great finish for the team defeating Mandarin, a very hot team. They gained confidence along the way to go with their size and speed.
