Atlantic Coast Girls Soccer Team Kicking It Into Next Gear

Atlantic Coast HS- After defeating Fletcher 1-0 in a big district contest last week, the Atlantic Coast Stingrays made short work of Trinity Christian 8-0 to improve to 8-4-1 on the season. Head Coach Kenny Mukasa deployed an aggressive attack, jumping out on Trinity early and never looking back. Centerback #15 Adin Besser stressed team work as the key to the big victory. “I think passing the ball and taking our time was a factor in the win”, said Besser. Atlantic Coast has been able play great defense this year securing several shutouts. They started the season winning four of their first five games, including wins over Matanzas 4-3, and shutouts of Ed White 8-0, Englewood 5-0, Lee 8-0, and Bishop Kenny 2-0. It’s the type of start to a season that builds confidence in a young team.

Midfielder #8 Chloe Churchwell has a business like approach to the game. Her dedication has trickled down into the play of her teammates and is a major reason for their success. She said after the win, ” I think focusing on the little things has contributed to our winning season so far”. Little things like making the right pass or taking the right shot plays a big part in the Stingrays scoring goals.

One of their best strikers on the team is freshman sensation #5 Morgan Eubanks. Eubanks is just 5’0 feet tall and weighs only 107 pounds, but her competitive drive allows her to achieve big things on the field. “She’s a natural athlete, the only one in our family” said Stephanie Eubanks Morgan’s proud mom. ” She runs track and is the smallest one out there, but she’s so good. I’m glad I put her in soccer”. Morgan relies on her strongest attributes as a striker on the team.  ” I think my speed is one of the reasons I’ve had success this year for Atlantic Coast” said Morgan. She brings speed to a team that works well together and plays off of each other’s strengths. None stronger than their coaching. Coach Kenny is praised by his players and parents as one of the best in the business. He believes in his players and pushes them to reach beyond expectations. Said Kenny,  “the girls have had a good season, and have achieved great success. Nobody thought we would beat Fletcher but we believed. Now we turn our attention toward a big test in Stanton before we go into the conference tournament.”Their next game versus Stanton (10-2-2) is one of their toughest of the season, but the Stingrays have proven that they are ready to kick it into the next gear.
