2017 Duval Sports Large School: Third team All-Area Defense

We release our 2017 All-Area football teams beginning this week, our All-Area teams are split up into small school and large school teams to give more kids due recognition.

Our large school teams (Class 5A-8A) consists of players from Sandalwood, Mandarin, Lee, Columbia, Fletcher, First Coast, Atlantic Coast, Bartram Trail, Fleming Island, Creekside, Oakleaf, St. Augustine, Nease, Ed White, Middleburg, Englewood, Ribault, Yulee, Stanton, Paxon, Suwannee, Bolles, Trinity, Ponte Vedra, Bishop Kenny, Parker, Westside, Baker County, Clay, Menendez, Ridgeview, Palatka and Orange Park.
Our All-Area teams are all about production and not about recruiting rankings or offers on the table. You don’t produce you don’t make our teams.

Why: 77 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 7 hurries, 2 INT

Johnny Amell, Bartram Trail, Sr., LB
Why: 92 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 5 sacks

KJ Scott, Suwannee, Sr., LB
Why: 121 tackles, 3 INT, 1 pick 6, 9 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 3 forced fumbles

Ethan Ulmstead, Columbia, Jr., LB
Why: 113 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles

Jeremiah Johnson, First Coast, Sr., DL
Why: 52 tackles, 10 sacks

SL McCall, Columbia, Sr., DL
Why: 40 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 3 forced fumbles

Kendy Charles, Orange Park, So., DL
Why: 65 tackles, 8 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 2 block punts

Rodelson Petit, Atlantic Coast, Sr., DL
Why: 41 tackles, 8 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles

Demetrius Byrd, Atlantic Coast, Jr., DB
Why: 35 tackles, 4 interceptions, 7 pass breakups

Bryson Kirksey, Bolles, Jr., DB
Why: 47 tackles, 4 interceptions

Chamarri Conner, Trinity, Sr., DB
Why: Opponents knew better to throw his way which allowed teammates Stephen Williams and Nyem Bozeman to have huge years, yet he still managed 107 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Jordan Copeland, Clay, Sr., DB
Why: 34 tackles, 4 interceptions

Lionell Harris, St. Augustine, Sr., ATH
Why: 56 tackles and interception on defense and 16 catches for 239 yards and a touchdown on offense

Devon Matthews, Ribault, Sr., ATH
Why: Two way standout finished with 36 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 1 interception, 3 offensive touchdowns, 1 kickoff return for touchdown, 44.1 punt average

Estin Thiele, Menendez, Sr., KS
Why: 41 yard kickoff average, 40/43 PAT, 10/13 FG
