Flagler Palm Coast (17-5)
In 9A action, Flagler Palm Coast shocked the area with a stunning district semifinal upset of Sandalwood 56-45. Next they would face district leader Spruce Creek in the championship game, dealing them a nail biting 58-55 defeat. Coach Javier Bevacqua has the Bulldogs barking loud, yet also biting hard as well. Led by senior Skye Green (10.0 ppg) and junior Jimaya Baker (9.0 ppg), Flagler has the upperclassmen leadership to lead them very deep into the tournament. They will face Seminole in the first round of the state playoffs on the road to Lakeland! For Sandalwood, it was a heart breaking loss for the young team. However heir two prominent play-makers Caitlin McGhee and Auriya Stewart are only sophomores. Hopefully they’ll be back together, to make a run at state in 2019.
