Girls High School Basketball District Recap and Playoff Preview/Score Updates

7A-3 Champion

Nease (24-3)

One of the best teams in our area proved why they are headed on the road to Lakeland, as they secured the 7A-3 district championship, defeating St. Augustine 53-36. Head Coach Sherri Anthony has navigated a 24-3 season with a balanced attack of offense and defense. Leading scorers Camille Hobby (14.0 ppg), and Kiya Turner (14.0 ppg) are also team leaders in rebounds and assists respectively. It’s one of the main reasons the Panthers have won 12 straight games to end the season, and may be the hottest team to enter the playoffs.

7A-3 Runner Up

St. Augustine (12-9)

Brooke Reed and Brianna Green have been very good players for the Jackets, leading them to a district runner up in class 7A. They defeated Middleburg in the district semifinals to earn a shot at the district trophy. They fell just short of that goal, but Coach Eric Hancock has redirected his team’s focus for taking it all the way to Lakeland.
