Clay holds on to top spot in area flag football rankings

We have reached the midway point of the season in flag football as the playoffs are quickly approaching just a month away.

The top five poll looks the same with the exception of a new No. 5 ranked team as Mandarin drops out after a stunning loss to Oakleaf.

Week 2 Rankings

1 Clay (4-0)

Outlook: A pair of wins over Middleburg 52-0 and a huge win Westside 32-0 put Clay in control of the district.

2 Terry Parker (3-0)

Outlook: In lone action of the week, the Braves survive a 19-13 three overtime win over Englewood to remain undefeated.

3 Fleming Island (3-0)

Outlook: Eagles make it look easy with wins over Fletcher 20-0 and Oakleaf 26-12 to remain undefeated.

4 Stanton (6-0)

Outlook: Another easy week for the Blue Devils picking up their third and fourth shut outs of the season with 13-0 win over Paxon and 47-0 win over Jackson.

5 Sandalwood (3-1)

Outlook: What a difference a week makes, the Saints were not even on our radar at all, but a pair of big wins a 44-0 win over Atlantic Coast and a huge upset 12-0 win over a solid First Coast team puts the Saints in the top five this week.

Dropped out: No. 5 Mandarin

Honorable Mention: Mandarin (3-1), Baldwin (4-1), First Coast (4-1), Keystone Heights (3-1), Orange Park (3-1), Ridgeview (1-1), Westside (4-2), Oakleaf (2-1), Palm Coast (4-2), Matanzas (3-1)
