Oakleaf Outlaws Run Through Spring Football Season to be Crowned Champions!

North Florida- As spring 8 on 8 youth football nears its end, many teams are concluding their hard fought seasons. One particular team has already finished their season by completing every game unblemished. That team is none other than the Oakleaf Outlaws from Clay County, who went 9-0 this season on their way to the FSYFL State championship.

This remarkable team made up of eleven and twelve year olds ,ran through the competion outscoring their regular season opponents 244-6. On offense, their balanced wing-t approach was different from many teams today that like to pass the ball. Yet twelve of the sixteen players on the team scored touchdowns or extra points this year, a remarkable accomplishment. Jaydan Jenkins, and Jayden Holt led a dual quarterback attack which racked up an average of 300 yards rushing a game. The offensive line executed advanced techniques and plays including pulling and trapping, to open gaping holes for Outlaw runners. The offense seemed to score on every possession, as they punted only seven times in their nine game season.

On defense, the Outlaws dominated the line of scrimmage. They allowed only five first downs all season, giving up their longest play from scrimmage was only 20 yards. Their defense held opponents to negative total yards on the ground and in the air. The Outlaws were not only a stingy defense but an opportunistic one as well. They scored four touchdowns on defense, forcing a turnover in each one of their games. The defense incredibly yielded zero points in the playoffs and championship game.

In the championship game, the Oakleaf Outlaws defeated the Port Orange Warhawks 34-0 to be crowned 2018 FSYFL State Champions. Oakleaf’s Jaydan Jenkins was named game MVP, as the talented athletes rotated at quarterback, running back, and even safety on defense. Said Jayden of playing for the Outlaws, ” I enjoy being able to make plays with my teammates and score in different ways”. One of Jayden’s teammates was his brother Toshombee, who got to share in the championship celebration along with the other great players on this incredible team.

Said Head Coach Mason Davis, ” We teach them to use their heads in film study  and not just their physical bodies. I couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished together this year”.

Congratulations to the Oakleaf Outlaws 2018 FSYFL State Champions
