KISSIMMEE- After advancing to the national championships for the second straight year, the CYAA Wolverines were looking to bring home their first ever national title.
Unfortunately they came up a bit short losing 25-19 to the Marlsboro (MD) Mustangs in the AYF 11-under National Championship game.
The Wolverines advanced to the championship round by defeating the Howell (NJ) Rebels in the first round, then defeated the Easter Shore (MD) Spartans 12-7 in round two to advance to the championship.
It was a great accomplishment for the youth football program based out of the Lackawana area in Jacksonville.
It’s the second year in a row that the park has represented Jacksonville at the AYF National tournament.
For head coach Alan Hall, its something very special to see how far this journey has taken them.
“It all started at PAL Sharks at Mallison Park 8 years ago, then two years later the PAL Sharks folded. Then coach (Arthur) Johnson and myself, we started our own association call the CYAA Wolverines,” Hall stated.
“Johnson and I feel great about this opportunity and we care about the kids in our area. Our biggest reasons for doing this are helping kids to become a positive person in the future,” Hall stated.
