2017-2018 Duval Sports Top 50: Presented By Allstar Commercial Services

1. Josh Boykins- Kirby Smith

The tape doesn’t lie, Josh Boykins is a dog!  He’s big, with good speed, and compliments that with good hands too. He’s one of the most punishing hitters you’ll ever see. He was Kirby’s all around best player.  Again, the tape doesn’t lie.

His Most Memorable Play: ” When I hit the player from Ribault so hard that I knocked him out of the game”

2. Jaheim Odom  ATH- Gilbert

Jaheim Odom is the prototypical hybrid player. With the ability to play any position, he excelled at Linebacker for Gilbert.  Sacks, pick 6’s , tackles for loss. He did it all for the Panthers.

His Most Memorable Play: Odom had a interception for a touchdown versus Oceanway

3. Javari Williams RB- Ribault

A local coach once called him “Jim Brown”, the famous Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame Running-back. Javari’s running style certainly mirrors that of Brown, mixing speed with brute strength, bullying defenders with his running style.

His Most Memorable Play: ” A 70 yard touchdown run up the middle versus Landmark in the playoff game.

4. Charles Thompson RB- Jeff Davis

If you saw Thompson play you saw an athlete that could track the deep ball. Probably the best deep ball receiver in the area. On those plays he showcased his speed, hands and concentration. That combination was second to none this year.

His Most Memorable Play: A 60 yard TD catch from Jalen Sonnier against Dupont in the playoffs.

5. William Belton:RB  University Christian

Belton shared the back field with another top 50 player, but he did a great job of making a name for himself. Confident and crushing , Belton ran with power all year for University Christian. He was their bulldozer on the field.

His Most Memorable Play: “Larry Shuffled the ball to me on a busted play. I reversed field picked up a good block by Kyree and took it for the score.”

6. Jalen Deadwyler -LB Twin Lakes

All he does is make plays. Jalen Deadwyler is the only middle school linebacker with a 103 yard interception return for a touchdown. He also scored on a fumble recovery in the same game. He’d do this all year for Twin Lakes as their all around best player.

His Most Memorable Play: ” the 103 yard interception return for a touchdown versus Landon”.

7. Aaron Hester- RB  Fletcher

” Aaron has the highest ceiling of all my players” said one of his coaches at Fletcher. When you watched Fletcher play, you saw Aaron Hester run with authority through defenses.

His Most Memorable Play: Aaron made an incredible tip toe run down the sideline for a 40 yard touchdown vs Arlington.

8. Runye Norton -WR Trinity

Trinity’s best kept secret, Runye Norton made every play when ever he was called upon . A technically sound and skillful receiver, he’s definitely no secret anymore.

His Most Memorable Play: ” I had a big catch in the 4th quarter vs UC and a big touchdown catch against Yulee!”

9. Shaun Davis  OL/DL – Ribault

The best offensive lineman in the city hailed from the Ribault Colts. He’s big, nasty, and loves contact. A mauler in the trenches. All quarterbacks want this man in front of them for protection. He can play defense too. A complete monster on the D-line.

His Most Memorable Play: ” I got the big 4th down sack in the championship game versus Jeff Davis”

10. Michael Brannon- ATH Jeff Davis

” I think he’s the best middle school running back in the city” These were the words of a local high school football coach when describing Michael Brannon. The perfect mix of power and finesse, there are few that rival Brannon’s skill set.

His Most Memorable Play:  While playing QB, he tossed a 50 yard TD pass to Kaloun Walker for a TD versus Fletcher
