2017-2018 Duval Sports Top 50: Presented By Allstar Commercial Services

1. Larry Edwards QB- UC

He’s long, with a strong arm. Larry Edwards took over the starting QB job after injury and never looked back. He’s a multifaceted quarterback who can buy time with his legs and make a play down field. He’s a true baller and signal caller!

His Most Memorable Play:  Larry had a 50 yard touchdown run versus Gamble Rogers, slicing through the St. Johns county champion’s defense.

2. Jacob Corley ATH- Mayport

The man at Mayport, ” Jake the Snake” Corley was an outstanding athlete on the field. Quarterback, running-back, punter, punt returner. What ever Mayport needed, Jake did it for them and never complained. He just loves the game.

His Most Memorable Play: Jake had a big kickoff return for a touchdown versus Ft Caroline lifting his team to victory.

3. Chris Calhoun- QB Ribault

He was born to play quarterback. With the arm of a rocket and the elusiveness of a rabbit, Chris Calhoun was arguably the best quarterback in Middle School football. Ironically, it wasn’t his glitz but rather his grit on a physical run that led his Ribault Colts over Gilbert in the game of the year.

His Most Memorable Play: ” The block Shaun Davis made for me, when I ran the go ahead 2 point conversion for the score in the Gilbert game”.

4. David Hamilton  DE – Gilbert

He’s the first young man you notice on the team. Tall, strong, yet silent. A silent assassin at defensive end was David Hamilton Jr. With one of the quickest first steps off the ball.

His Most Memorable Play: David had a four sack game versus Butler, including a fumble recovery and 3 tackles for loss.

5. Treyaun Webb- RB – Trinity

He’s one of only two rising 8th graders on the list, and that’s no coincidence. Treyaun Webb has already received offers the University of Miami amongst other schools. He runs with violence and cuts on a dime. A true game breaker if there ever was one. He’s a spectacualr player and genetic specemin. A player everyone came to see at Trinity’s middle school games.

His Most Memorable Play: “I scored my first Touchdown on JV in High School, a 20 yard jet sweep vs Suwannee”

6. Kaloun Walker- RB- Jeff Davis

From one of the only 7th graders on this years list, to the only 7th grader on last year’s list, Kaloun Walker is what many would describe as a “beast”. At linebacker he chops down runners  and at runningback, he powers over defenders with ease. He loves watching film. A true student of the game.

His Most Memorable Play: ” When I took the all out of Stilwell’s Quarterback, knocking him out of the game”.

7. Daniel Plummer III- QB Trinity

Daniel Plummer III brought his youth football hype to middle school and showed everyone that he was the real deal. His mechanics at quarterback are second to none, and he couples that with an extremely powerful arm. Connecting on several long touchdown passes this year, he could be the most accurate middle school quarterback in the area.

His Most Memorable Play: “Throwing a touchdown pass to Xander Ross vs UC to win the game”

8. Jeremiah Huntley- RB Gilbert

The whispers in preseason practices around the city were about this young man. Who was he?  To some, he was simply an urban legend… that is until you saw him play. Jeremiah Huntley’s mixture of speed, agility and brute strength was on showcase for everyone to see this year. He was arguably the most dominating running back in the area. FAU took notice and offered this young man before he stepped footn on a High School field

His Most Memorable Play: An incredible 70 yard touchdown run up the gut versus Ribault.

9. Jerome Manning- ATH Ribault

If there was a picture of a football player in the middle school dictionary, Jerome Manning would be that picture. He scored touchdowns in various fashions and made plays all over the field. One of the hardest hitters in middle school football.

His Most Memorable Play: The punt block, recovery, and return for a touchdown to win the game versus Gilbert.

He led Dupont in total touchdowns this season scoring on offense and defense. Opposing coaches that were polled for the Top 50 marveled at his incredible range. Said one coach, ” He’s tall, long and extremely fast; there’s just no catching him, there’s just no getting past him”.  He was Dupont’s key addition to defeating Twin Lakes for their first division title in school history.

His Most Memorable Play: ” The first game of the season against Mandarin. I scored the first touchdown of the game on a 40 yard touchdown run up the middle. Everyone was hype”.
