Ed White High School was the location Thursday night of the Gateway Tournament action. Mandarin took on Jackson, and Wolfson faced Ed White for the opportunity to advance to the championship.
Mandarin vs Jackson
Admir Radoncic led Mandarin once again with 23 points as the Mustangs closed within three points of the Jackson Tigers. The big man was effective down low and was deadly accurate at the free throw line as Mandarin stayed close all night. Jackson had opportunities to pull away but couldn’t courtesy of the tenacity of the Mustangs. But with minutes to play in the game and a 
chance to tie the game, Mandarin could not stop Jackson’s pin point passing as they played keep away with the basketball in the final minutes. #10 Joshua Hawkins scored a team high 25 points, and knocked down two clinching free throws at the end of the game. Jackson was able to win 61-53 thanks to their speed, quickness and depth. Jackson Coaches routinely substituted fresh bodies to harass the Mustang ball handlers. Their athleticism is matched only by their will to win. Something they have done consistently all year. There’s only one more win that matters in the tournament for the Tigers, and they’ll attempt to do this tomorrow.

Wolfson vs Ed White
When you looked across the court at these two teams, you couldn’t help but observe how evenly matched they were. Similar in size, quickness, and execution, the Commanders and Wolfpack were destined to play a competitive game. From the opening tip off this thought immediately became fact. Both teams traded baskets up and down the court as Ed White built a 36-33 
halftime lead. White used their power to muscle up layups, while Wolfson used their athleticism to make acrobatic baskets. This style of play continued into the second half, however the Commanders were able to force ill-advised turnovers to keep the advantage over the Wolfpack. Dalvin Storey scored 18 and Tyrone Young scored 16 points for the Commanders who won 66-63. Railey led Wolfson with 18 points in the loss. Ed White will face Jackson Friday at Jackson High School for the championship.
