Marshall scored the first two touchdowns of the game from 3 yards and 2 yards out to go up 13-0. The drives were orchestrated by QB Barren Coates, who connected with Marshall on a screen pass on the first drive, and then took off on a long run to set up the second score. Coates would then score himself by hooking up with #11 Daivarus Thomas for a long touchdown pass reception. Coates would also score on a 7 yard touchdown run, making the Vikings offense look effective and efficient against the Commanders defense.

The Vikings defense was fierce and ferocious for most of the game. They held Ed White to only 6 points. White’s standout running back Isaiah Flowers was held in check for most of the first half. That is until Flowers jetted to the end zone on a 48 yard touchdown run to soften the sting for the Commanders. In the end, White was severely over matched in the game. Adding insult to injury, the Commanders lost their top defender linebacker Omari Fiffer to a season ending injury.
Ed White Star Linebacker Omari Fiffer with an amazing response after suffering a season ending injury to a very promising senior campaign. We've covered him since his Middle School days at Stilwell. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery! One of our 2018 Prime Time Players! https://t.co/EFQHTv5OAh

Ed White (1-2) must prepare to face their district opponents without their top defender. Raines on the other hand, is not in a district and used games like these to showcase some of their other talented player such as #35 Jaren Wilson, #21 Nazario Jones , and #7 Jaquez Griffin. Griffin scored a touchdown as well as Jamon Handy who brought the rain with his score, as Raines rained out White.

The game was played at 5:30pm on Thursday afternoon, rescheduled due to the deadly shooting at Raines High School two weeks ago after the Vikings fell to Lee 16-15. The Vikings were honored by the Jacksonville Jaguars for their 2017 state championship in the wake of the tragedy. After an opening loss to Lee last year, the 2018 Vikings are hoping to repeat their undefeated streak of last year which led them all the way to a state title.
