UC Soldiers Shutout Star Ready Gators in a Battle for the Number One Spot

University Christian- The 12U UC Soldiers took on the 12U Star Ready Gators Saturday in a youth football match up that saw to undefeated teams squaring off. The Soldiers faced the Gators in a battle of the unbeaten in the SJRYFC League. Much anticipation was built on the matchup with great players such as Jayden Jenkins, Noah Montoro, Rodney Tinsdale and Timarius Lane on the field for UC. While Amari Robinson, Esyaw Parrish Jr, Tyrone Blunt and Ceasar Wiley dawned the pads for the Gators. Even though great players were featured, only one team would take the resounding victory as the Soldiers won 38-0. UC improved to 3-0 and Star Ready fell to 2-1 on the season.

For UC , Timarius Lane or TJ as he’s affectionately called, scored on a kick return and a long touchdown run in the game. JJ (Jayden Jenkins) scored on a touchdown run, and an incredible one handed TD reception in the back of the endzone. They led the Soldiers in the scoring effort, behind their powerful offensive line headed by Noah Montoro. Quarterback Rodney Tinsdale was impressive displaying incredible arm strength and accuracy hitting his targets in stride. Tinsdale would score on a short touchdown run in the game as well .

With the win, Coach Mike Matos knows it’s just a stepping stone for his team. “This was an opportunity for us to get better as a team and continue to build one game at a time”.  They made a statement against a quality opponent. For Coach Jason Jackson, he hopes his Star Ready Gators can rebound from the loss. ” We need to let this one soak in and come back and play better next. How teams respond to adversity is the measure they can build upon.
